Since I write novels dealing with guns and criminals, I’m always looking for no-nonsense advice from professionals (law enforcement officers specifically, although interviewing a criminal via email would certainly be interesting).
I just re-read an article with a wealth of information regarding what to do if you’re ever in a situation where someone is holding a gun to your head. Whether you’re writing a scene or are interested in what to do if it really happens, here’s a link to a post by former law enforcement dealing with that specific scenario. I especially enjoyed his snark about wearing stilettos and shrink-wrap clothing…
that is actually really useful information. As always don’t follow through with what you see in hollywood.
LOL Isn’t that the truth, Jon? I always cringe when I see stuff like that on tv or in the movies. And, if I can spot it, you know it’s obvious 😀

I had that happen a very long time ago when I was in my twenties. I was cool until it was over, and then I crumbled. This is very useful information, you can never be too cautious.
Wow. How incredibly scary awful for you, Aron–but how great that you were cool in such a stressful situation. I can only hope I would do the same, although I suspect I’d go completely blank and not remember anything the poster suggests.
